Melkington Lodge is ideally situated for experiencing all the activities and sights in the area and is also an ideal mid-point between Edinburgh, Scotland, 45 mins drive north, and Hadrians Wall, 1 hr drive south. Explore the historic region of Northumberland, one of the driest regions in the UK and once the scene of numerous battles, such as at Flodden Field, in its disputed Border Regions between the English, the Scots and the notorious Border Rievers. It is now a peaceful sparsely populated area with a strong Christian Heritage, as can be seen at Holy Island's Lindisfarne Castle, and the numerous castles, such as at Bamburgh and Alnwick. Or hire from nearby Kimmerston Riding Centre for breathtaking canters in the Cheviot Hills and along the beaches of the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.
